Femke Teussink

Femke Teussink graduated in 2000 as a visual artist specialized in photography at Art Academy Constantijn Huygens in Kampen, the Netherlands.

In 2005 she wins the photography competition \\\'Bijzonder Beursplein\\\' in Rotterdam:

The photo by Femke Teussink excels in composition. It is a beautiful and powerful image, which can partially be contributed to the strong correlation between light and dark. In art history this correlation is called clair obscur. In this photo you are a conscious observer. As an observer you enter a wondrous world where you can create your own story.

In 2007 she wins the incentive award that is presented to creative talent in Deventer once every two years:

Utilizing the camera as a brush Femke shapes her own dream world. She makes good use of exciting, sometimes alienating locations and self selected, self dressed models.

But the results aren\\\'t anything like portraits and don\\\'t look over staged. They are more like stilled dream images that easily invoke emotional associations. Most in clair obscur and often with beautiful clouds, lush landscapes or cultural heritage as decor. In doing so Femke managed to give her work a unique identity already in this short period of time. Easily recognizable as a genuine Teussink. A remarkable achievement for a starting photographer, just over the threshold of her carrier.
